Wedding Reception Decorations and Ideas! PART 2

(Read part 1 first.) Coming up with beautiful wedding reception decorations and how to set up the entire reception can be a challenge.

When I get started planning a new party, I like to look online at some of my favorite sites to see what they have to offer before I can determine what it is that I like. That's true for wedding celebrations and basically every other kind of celebration you can think of.

As you begin thinking about your wedding reception decorations, I wholeheartedly recommend that you investigate the following 3 stores ...

For classy, beautiful items such as silver wedding cake stands and other wedding reception decorations, you'll find so many things at American Bridal that you won't want to live without.

Our very own store offers fun items for informal weddings, as well as basic party supplies for your wedding reception decorations. (Fun Theme Birthday Parties.com is our sister site!) We don't have a huge supply of formal items, but there's a lot of cool stuff to choose from, if I do say so myself. :)

For larger items such as decorations for a church, you can find a lot of lovely items at Shindigz.

Wedding reception: Food and drink

Take a look at great online food websites like Epicurious to get ideas about the types of food and drink you could imagine serving at your reception. Then talk to your caterer about his or her thoughts.

The best wedding reception planning books tend to offer you great insights on particular dishes you can serve, wedding cake styles and flavors, etc.

THE CAKE

One of my favorite parts of the reception — and the part of your reception that your guests will remember for years to come is your wedding cake.

Wedding music

It's a lot of trouble to screen bands for your reception, so make sure to find out if the bands you're considering have a Website.

These days, many bands have a Web presence, including music clips that you can download and listen to.

If some of the bands you have in mind have already entered the Information Age, just head online and explore your options!

Accessories

Candles, special champagne glasses for your first toast with your new spouse, a silver cake knife to add class to the cake-cutting ceremony these are just some of the items that give your reception a real personal touch.

Online you'll find a huge selection of accessories and decorations, often at reduced prices. And, of course, they're delivered to your doorstep.

Seating at the Reception

Large weddings make it hard for friends and loved ones from each wedding party to get to know one another.

In the same way, sometimes divorces and family squabbles mean certain guests should not be seated near one another to avoid arguments on your special day.

How can you avoid this problem?

When you have a large reception with a sit-down meal, it often helps to have assigned seating.

You can certainly use pen and paper to do this planning. And for more complex seating arrangements and for very large weddings, MarriedBliss.com recommends getting seating arrangement software that allows you to plan the seating arrangement for each table at your wedding reception.

Planning your reception means a lot of organization and hard work, but couples handle it all the time beautifully. You too can create a beautiful event with lovely wedding reception decorations and a style that suits you.

The bottom line: Take care of the main details for your wedding reception well in advance, and everything will fall into place perfectly on the day of your wedding.
